Over the years we’ve helped place thousands of candidates in their dream jobs in the digital, marketing and creative sectors across the UK. We’re sharing their stories so you can find out more about their experiences, what we do and how we help.
In December 2020, we placed Laura in her current role as an Account Manager at a Newcastle based creative agency. Here is Laura’s story:
The job search begins
I’d been open to a new job for a couple of months and actively searching for a few weeks when Jo at Concept reached out to me via LinkedIn.
I was working in public relations and wanted to move into marketing to broaden my skillset and gain experience in a more digital PR focused role.
Supportive from the start
I’ve never worked with a recruitment agency, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But from the start, Jo was very clear, communicated frequently and answered my questions.
I was sent a detailed job description, and quickly organised a call to discuss the role further. Jo was incredibly knowledgeable about the new opportunity, as well as the creative and digital sectors.
I sent Jo my CV and some further background on my experience. She then sent it on to the potential employer for consideration and they let her know they wanted to interview me. Everything happened in a really timely manner which I appreciated. I was kept in the loop at every stage
Prepping for Interview
Prior to my interview, Jo spoke to me about what I could expect and helped me do some preparation as it had been a while since I’d interviewed, and I felt a bit out of practice. She sent some useful resources and offered to sit in on the interview to observe.
Following the Interview
After my interview Jo had a debrief with my interviewers, then got in touch with me to feedback on how it went. The feedback process was really informative and went both ways; From me to the hiring managers and from them to me.
Then the very next day, Jo called me to say that I’d been offered the role. Jo then coached me through the process of handing in my notice and continued to communicate with me throughout my notice period and beyond my start date until I had properly settled into my brilliant new job.
Tips for other job seekers
I’d never thought to approach a recruiter. I was slogging away on Indeed every other night shortlisting roles which was very time consuming
I highly recommend that anyone looking for a role in the creative and digital sectors, gets in touch with Concept. They’ll take the stress out of your job search and can help guide you through every stage.
It also helps to have an up-to-date LinkedIn profile, that clearly lists your previous experience and location, as this is how Concept found me
You can clearly advertise the fact that you’re open to work, so potential employers and recruiters like Concept, know they can approach you.
